A hex-and-counter wargame primer. Take the hill in 20 minutes.

SHORT (approx 50 words)
-----------------------
Take That Hill is a short, focused introduction to hex-and-counter wargaming. You command an
infantry platoon attacking a fortified hill 500 metres across open ground. Sixteen turns, four
sections, one enemy - and every mechanic the genre is built on, taught by playing it.

LONG (approx 180 words)
-----------------------
Hex-and-counter wargames have a reputation: dense rulebooks, decades of assumed knowledge, a wall
between the curious and the hobby. Take That Hill is built to get you over that wall in twenty
minutes.

You command an infantry platoon - three sections and a Platoon HQ - attacking an enemy section dug
in on a hill 500 metres away. The ground between is open, with no cover from view or fire. Take the
hill by fire and manoeuvre: pin the defenders, move under covering fire, close to assault.
Move quickly while keeping casualties to a minimum, balancing a rapid but potentially reckless
advance against a cautious, methodical approach.

Its IGO-UGO turn structure introduces the mechanics used across most commercial wargames -
alternating sides, action economy, dice-driven fire, line of fire, suppression, morale and rally.
Once the basics land, advanced rules layer on fire support, minefields, barbed wire, hidden depth
positions, 120mm mortars, and low-light attacks that offer opportunities to close on the hill unseen,
offset by illumination and the confusion darkness can cause among troops.

A full expansion scenario, Paratrooper Raid, drops you behind enemy lines with one night to destroy
a command node - and get everyone back to the wood line before dawn.
